Exam / Selection Pattern
- Tier I: English Language (25 Qs, 50 marks), General Intelligence (25 Qs, 50 marks), Quantitative Aptitude (25 Qs, 50 marks), General Awareness (25 Qs, 50 marks). Total 200 marks, 60 minutes.
- Tier I: Negative marking 0.50 marks per wrong answer.
- Tier II: Mathematical Abilities (30 Qs, 90 marks), Reasoning (30 Qs, 90 marks), English (45 Qs, 135 marks), General Awareness (25 Qs, 75 marks), Computer Knowledge (20 Qs, 60 marks). Total 450 marks. Negative marking 1 mark per wrong.
- Tier II Skill Test: DEST (8,000 key depressions/hour for DEO) or Typing Test (35 WPM English / 30 WPM Hindi for LDC/PA/SA) — qualifying only.

Important Notes
- Tier I score is qualifying only; final merit is determined solely by Tier II.
- Typing/DEST speed test is qualifying — practise early to avoid disqualification after clearing the written exam.
