How to Use SSC CGL Mock Tests for 2026 Preparation

SSC CGL recruits candidates for Group B and Group C posts across Central Government ministries, departments and organisations. The 2026 notice lists approximately 12,256 tentative vacancies, with Tier 1 scheduled for August–September 2026 and Tier 2 for December 2026. SSC states that these examination schedules are tentative.

Tier 1 practice now needs sectional discipline. The 100-question paper still carries 200 marks in 60 minutes, but each of its four subjects has a separate 15-minute timer. A realistic study plan should therefore include short subject drills as well as mixed practice; strength in one section cannot compensate for poor time control in another.

Begin with a baseline: Take the timed mixed mock without checking notes. Record accuracy by subject and separate conceptual errors from rushed guesses. A low score is useful if it shows exactly which chapters need attention.

Repair weak chapters: Use the Hindi-English chapter bank for repeated practice in Quant, Reasoning, General Awareness, Polity, History and Language. Review the explanation after every wrong or guessed answer, then retry a fresh set from the same chapter.

Add previous year papers: The 2022, 2023 and 2024 papers help you recognise SSC wording, recurring concepts and the level of calculation expected. Attempt them under time pressure only after reviewing the underlying topics.

Track accuracy, not just attempts: Tier 1 deducts 0.50 marks for every wrong answer. Compare your scores only after applying negative marking, and practise leaving uncertain questions when guessing would reduce the expected score.
